Federal Council of Churches
In 1908 thirty-one denominations joined in this Council. While the council was active in issuing pronouncements on social, economic and political questions, many conservative churchmen criticized its liberal theology. In 1950 it was absorbed by a larger body, the National Council of Churches of Christ.
